M/I Homes Collects Over 100 Coats for CitySquare in Dallas, TX!

M/I Homes DFW Partnered with our local CitySquare program to collect coats to help former foster children stay warm this season.

Over the past few weeks, M/I Homes of Dallas Fort Worth employees, vendors, and trade partners have worked together to gather children and adult size coats to benefit those involved with the CitySquare Program.  CitySquare is a local non-profit organization that helps individuals transitioning out of foster care and onto their own feet, with many going into temporary housing.

Together we collected more than 100 coats and are thankful to have had the opportunity to have made a contribution!

M/I Homes DFW has initiated a Community Crew team to continue to help out with other service opportunities throughout the holiday season.  Our next volunteering opportunity will be in December helping to bag food and toys for another local non-profit organization, “Christmas for Children.”

M/I Homes Sells Benefit Home in Houston, Texas

Closing for Benefit HomeThirty four years ago the Greater Houston Builders Association Board of Directors created a charitable project to bring vendors, builders, developers and volunteers of the GHBA together for one cause: to find a way to give back to Houston. The overall goal of the program was to build quality homes to be sold at market value for a profit that would then be donated to charity. This program is still going strong today.

This year, M/I Homes of Houston was given the opportunity to build this “benefit home” in the Woodlands – Villages of Creekside Park community. M/I Homes donated the construction and management of the home, while The Woodlands community donated the homesite.

The Steffany II floor plan was selected for this event. This home featured 2,629 square feet of space with 3 bedrooms, a study and an open concept kitchen looking into the family room.

When looking for a new home Jennifer Simmons fell in love with this home, the community and the location.  She adored the open concept kitchen and the large variety of upgrades that were included in this home, as well as the spacious game room, media room and full bathroom upstairs.  The icing on the cake was when she learned that this home also benefited three local charities; the Texas Cancer Center, the Alzheimer’s Association and HomeAid Houston. Jennifer’s decision to purchase this home became an even simpler one.

This benefit home closed on June 20th, 2014. The program that was created 34 years ago by the GHBA has raised over 9 million dollars for local charities throughout its existence. With the help of generous vendors, hard working volunteers and the Greater Houston Builders Association, M/I Homes was proud to be a part of such an amazing project.

Results are in – M/I Homes of Indianapolis Generates More than $7,000 for Go Red for Women

This is a blog post we are overjoyed to write! Earlier this year M/I Homes joined the Go Red for Women Movement by the American Heart Association. M/I Homes agreed to make a $100 donation to the movement for every home sold during a certain time frame this year.

Our involvement in the movement has come to a close and we couldn’t be more excited to share the results! On a national scale, M/I Homes sold 723 homes and therefore raised a whopping $72,300 for the Go Red movement! In Indianapolis, 71 homes were sold allowing us to contribute $7,100 for the cause!

Go Red for Women is a movement we feel passionate about here at M/I Homes Indianapolis. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women and an estimated 43 million women in the U.S. are affected by the disease. Even so, only one in five women say they believe heart disease is their greatest health risk. Go Red for Women is making great progress at changing that!
Women who Go Red are more likely to make healthy choices:
•          More than 33% have lost weight
•          More than 50% had increased their exercise
•          60% have changed their diets to become more heart healthy
•          More than 40% have checked their cholesterol levels
•          33% have talked with their doctors about developing healthy heart plans
We want to sincerely thank all the Indianapolis area homebuyers who chose to build with us while this program was going on (and all the time, of course)! Making a difference in the fight toward better heart health for women is something we’re passionate about, and we couldn’t do it without all of you!

On December 21st, our Chicago team had 33 participants at Feed my Starving Children and prepared over 30,024 meals in two short hours of work.

We prepared enough food to feed 83 children for one year!

Thanks FMSC!
